Mark your calendars for Fall 2024 – Balmain Beauty is on its way. The iconic fashion house has just signed an agreement with Estée Lauder to launch a line of cosmetics and fragrances under the direction of designer Olivier Rousteing and Lauder executive Guillaume Jesel.

“For more than ten years, my Balmain team and I have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in fashion,” Rousteing said in a statement. “We have been determined to reflect the way today’s diverse generation wants to live and dress. So obviously there was no way for us to expand into beauty without making sure we found the partner who understood and shared our perspective. From the beginning, the team at The Estée Lauder Companies made it abundantly clear that they support Balmain’s distinctive vision, as well as our goal of changing the global paradigm of luxury beauty. Knowing that, and knowing that Estée Lauder is the paragon of excellence, well, I can’t wait to start working with them.”

In an interview with WWD, Rousteing says he wants Balmain cosmetics to bridge the gap between skincare and color. “I feel like everyone wears a lot of makeup, but I think it’s also important to take care of your skin,” she tells WWD. “I am very proud to work with Estée Lauder because her products are of such high quality.”

The collaboration has been years in the making. “Balmain and Olivier Rousteing are visionary forces in global fashion. We look forward to working with them to expand the Balmain universe and carve out a new space in luxury beauty that clearly reflects the brand’s strong, inclusive and bold spirit,” Jesel said in a statement.

This is not the first foray into beauty from Balmain or Rousteing. She designed a line of lipsticks with L’Oréal Paris in 2017. And, of course, there’s Balmain Hair Couture, a line of products, tools, and hairpieces that actually started in 1974. You can currently shop Balmain Hair Couture at netporter.com.

Jenna Rosenstein is the Beauty Director of BAZAAR.com. While attending NYU, she interned at Women’s Wear Daily, Bloomingdale’s, Harper’s BAZAAR (as Glenda’s intern!), and Allure, the latter of which she parlayed into becoming her first job as a beauty assistant. She left Allure three years later as Senior Beauty Editor, spending a few months at Refinery29 in the same role overseeing the brand’s content, before eventually returning to BAZAAR to oversee all digital beauty content. When she’s not trying out every lipstick known to mankind, getting electrocuted by new lasers, or interviewing experts and celebrities, you can find Rosenstein rewatching Star Wars movies, reading books about new discoveries in science and health, and playing with her Bombay cat named Maddie.
