Reformation has partnered with Canada Goose to create quirky and sustainable outerwear. In a seven-piece collection, reversible parkas, gilets and puffer jackets resplendent with vintage-inspired prints, adding a certain cheer to dreary winter weather. Additionally, they have been intentionally designed for circular living and feature a unique interior tag that reads “Loved By” so each owner’s name can be documented.

Fashion is turning into a cinematic spotlight this month. In TIFF’s Make it Fashion series, a festival showcasing 14 films centering on the most acclaimed fashion houses and designers of the last century, enjoy the spectacle of Audrey Hepburn’s on-screen Givenchy moments and Manolo Blahnik’s hand in Maria Sofia Coppola’s Antoinette. Toronto Metropolitan University recycles old Ryerson and Rams brand materials

When Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) finally received its new name last spring, you may have had some follow-up questions, such as: what would happen to all the world’s souvenirs tagged with the institution’s old name? An initiative called the Branded Materials Transition Project has actually been collecting these branded items and diverting them from landfills (think apparel, college sports jerseys, signage, stationery, and uniforms) with the intention of converting the 11,000kg of waste in sustainably reused items. The preliminary results were on display this week in a show where 27 unique fashion pieces embodied the art of makeover.

Through December 24, vehicles such as the Mercedes-Maybach Haute Voiture Concept can be admired alongside custom designer gowns by Narces, Charles Lu and CAFA 2022 Womenswear Designer of the Year, Lecavalier. Additionally, a concept store highlights Canadian brands such as Sentaler and Alan Anderson, with a selection of outerwear, jewelry, bags and accessories available to purchase. It’s a total sensory display packed with luxury and local talent.

Mr. Saturday selects a vintage travel-inspired capsule for Roots

Get ready to jet set, even if it’s just a fashion fantasy. Roots has collaborated with Toronto-based luxury label Mr. Saturday (winner of CAFA 2022 Menswear Designer of the Year) on a curated capsule of easy-to-wear clothing and accessories, all inspired by the spirit of vintage travel. The Roots Saturday Airlines collection features varsity and bomber jackets, sweatshirts and t-shirts decorated with embroidery, patches and prints.
