Bethenny Frankel is about to add another title to her already impressive resume: beauty expert.
In case you missed it, the reality star, author, and entrepreneur has been candidly revealing her best skin and body care secrets on social media lately, and to our surprise, all she approves of is actually very affordable.
While one might expect Frankel to appreciate only the finer things in life, it seems his latest obsessions are downright inexpensive and, best of all, available at a nearby pharmacy. We caught up with the former Real Housewives of New York City star to find out how her honest and informative beauty product reviews were created.
“It was actually an accident! I was playing around on social media and I kept seeing people raving about certain drugstore products that I had never heard of and wanted to try them all. I didn’t even know about these brands or honestly how a drugstore works.” pharmacy,” he tells PEOPLE with a laugh.
A quick glance at his Instagram will tell you that Frankel is now a bonafide beauty guru, often comparing high-end luxury items with more affordable finds from L’Oreal Paris, Maybelline, and Milani Cosmetics, to name a few. Ironically, one of his recent discoveries comes from a prestigious brand that has been familiar to Frankel for several years.
“I saw Bliss products at a pharmacy in Florida and had to pick them up. Bliss was the first spa chain I can remember, and now they can reach everyone. I always remembered that Bliss products were amazing,” she shares. “I love the line’s gigantic Vanilla Almond Milk Body Lotion, as well as the entire Bliss Vitamin C skincare range. The moisturizer is hydrating and absorbent, which is good because I’m a thirsty girl.” when it comes to face creams.”

In terms of her step-by-step at-home body care routine, the Skinnygirl CEO divulged that she loves pampering herself with an arsenal of affordable essentials, all of which are available on Amazon. She starts by dry brushing from head to toe and then exfoliates with Tree Hut’s sugar scrubs for extra exfoliation. For bath time, she soaks herself in Dr. Teal’s lavender Epsom salts; and for showers, it’s Dr. Bronner’s Castile Liquid Soap. Frankel mentioned that she sources all of Dr. Bronner’s scents for his home with the exception of one scent: peppermint.
“That one burns in your private areas, so we avoided that one. Everything else is great though,” he confirms.
After her shower, Frankel reaches for some trusted classics, like Cetaphil facial cleanser and Palmer’s Formula body oil, a classic drugstore find that she says is just as good as the more expensive options at the department store.
“Simply add a few drops of your favorite fragrance to your hands and mix with Palmer’s for a scented body oil. You’re paying for the scent when it comes to those expensive body oils, so make it yourself and you’ll save a ton,” she explains.
And finally, when it comes to one makeup trick she can’t live without, Frankel said Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Concealer is foolproof.
“This is simply the best. It can be worn so many different ways. Pick one in a darker shade for easy contouring. Add three dots along your cheekbones, blend with your fingers, and voila! It’s so easy!” , she says.
