Alumni Interview Series Features Tips for Succeeding in In-Demand Fields

A new Instagram Live series, presented by the Amica Center for Career Education at Bryant University, helps students envision their future with regular interviews with Bryant alumni who have exciting jobs in a variety of in-demand fields that include music, sports, publishing, and entertainment.

During interviews, Amica Center career coach Nicolle Potvin talks to alumni about their current jobs and the journey that got them there, providing industry-specific information and guidance. “Our goal is for students to walk away from each interview with real, concrete advice that will help them take the next step,” she says.

Recent guests included Cory Lunn ’09, Senior Privacy Program Manager at TikTok; Isabela Davis ’07, formerly Music & Entertainment Leader, Business Partnerships at Meta and now Senior Project Manager, Amazon Ads, at Amazon; Margot Becker Giblin ’12, CEO, West Coast, of Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Women’s Health, Men’s Health and Clevver at Hearst Magazines; and David Giardino ’09, director of marketing and brand strategy for NBC Sports.

The guests are selected according to the interest of the students. Potvin tracks employers and industries that Bryant students consider dream jobs, then reaches out to the University’s 50,000-strong alumni network to find representatives. “Many of our alumni are eager to help the next generation,” Potvin notes.

Instagram interviews started out as a necessity during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Potvin says, but she found that the format made them more accessible to Bryant students and allowed for interviews with alumni living across the country.

Bryant’s array of successful alumni demonstrates how the University’s interdisciplinary education prepares students for careers in a variety of fields, says Potvin, who notes that 99 percent of Bryant graduates are employed or enrolled in the school of graduate within six months of graduation and their median starting salary is $64,000. “The combination of business, arts and sciences that Bryant students learn here sets them apart,” she says. “Whatever field they’re in, that combination helps them find success.”
