The Office of the Permanent Secretary, the Office of the Prime Minister, in collaboration with the Association for Culture and Promotions of Thailand, will organize the Third International Thai Silk Fashion Week in honor of the 90th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother this year.

Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said on Tuesday that Kiti Pratipnatsiri, president of the Silk Promotions Association of Thailand, had met Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Government House to discuss the project.

The event will take place from December 7 to 11 from 4:00 pm at the Royal Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon Mall.

Gen Prayut said the occasion is an opportunity to promote cross-cultural exchanges and enhance multilateral relations with other countries through Thai silk, an important legacy from Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother, Mr. Anucha said.

He said fashion designers from more than 60 countries were invited to create a collection of traditional and contemporary costumes made from Thai silk to display at the fashion show.

It was estimated that around 9,000 meters of Thai silk produced by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s Support Foundation would be used in the fashion show, Mr. Anucha said.

The finalists of the Next Big Silk designer competitions, who are local fashion design students, will represent Thailand in the fashion show, he said.

In addition, world-renowned designers from international fashion houses such as Jimmy Choo, Rocco Barocco and Danha Kim have been invited to participate in the show.

Some of them will also join the judging panel and exchange fashion inspirations with fashion design students from across the region, the spokesperson said.

Mr. Anucha added that there will also be an exhibition at the 3rd International Thai Silk Fashion Week showcasing Thai Silk Villages across the country, with stalls selling agricultural products grown by local farmers from various regions. from the country.

He said the Thai Silk Fashion Week is expected to attract at least 10,000 visitors a day.
