A 5-year-old boy in eastern China suffered a bruised and swollen face after his kindergarten classmate’s father slapped him over the weekend.
The incident, which was caught on a now-viral video, occurred at the boy’s home in Nanjing on Saturday, according to local reports.
According to police, the classmate’s 33-year-old father, identified only as Lu, went to the boy’s home to demand an apology after hearing that the boy had beaten his son at school earlier that day.
However, later in the conversation, Lu slapped the boy across the face, sending him flying off his stool to the ground.

The violent moment shook the boy’s grandfather, 64, identified only as Zu, who tried to defend the boy. The older man lifted the chair he was sitting on in an alleged attempt to hit Lu.
In response, Lu pushed Zu to the ground. The impact broke the older man’s leg, who then required medical attention.
The boy’s family reported the incident to the authorities. The next day, Lu was arrested on charges of assault.

An investigation revealed that the kindergarten dispute began when the children fought over a toy on the playground. Zu’s grandson allegedly scratched the back of Lu’s son’s neck with the toy, resulting in a cut.
The mother of Zu’s grandson reportedly intended to make her son apologize to Lu’s son later that night. Both families reportedly live in the same community.
