The best products that have gone viral so far in 2022

No two TikTok FYP are the same. But amid tarot spreads taking over one person’s page and dogs testing enrichment toys on another, one thing is almost guaranteed: a viral product.

While some types of viral posts are exclusive to their respective platforms, a ton of products that appeared on TikTok are also popular on Facebook or Instagram. (That’s how his cousin, who is three months behind on memes, knew right away what butt leggings were.) There’s something universally compelling about an ordinary person expressing excitement about something he bought, not because he was paid to make a calculated Youtube video about it, but because they genuinely thought others would like to know about it.

TikTok’s virality isn’t always short-lived. Items that had their big break in 2021 are still constantly teetering on stans, like the ChomChom(opens in a new tab)that has yet to go off on PetTok, or Charlotte Tillbury Hollywood’s flawless filter(opens in a new tab)which is still hard to find in stock.

Naturally though, 2022 is seeing its own plethora of products that have caught the attention of doomscrollers. These are our favorite products that have gone viral since the beginning of the year.

Windmill Air has taken on the long overdue task of removing the thud from the humble window air conditioning unit, because can any of us genuinely remember seeing an air conditioner that looks no older than we do? The unit, which looks like a smart speaker with graceful curved edges, isn’t necessarily smaller than a typical air conditioner, but it’s much easier to install. (Not even a screwdriver required.) The temperature is displayed on the LED screen as well as on the app and can be adjusted or turned off completely from anywhere.

But when there are options as ridiculously cute as Happy and Polly’s, turning your living room into a whimsical feline wonderland is the way to go. The brand works with color palettes that include flowers, spiral candy, and fruit, but TikTok’s favorite seems to be the purple night sky design called Moonlight.

Trader Joe’s hive, please stand up. The supermarket chain resurrected its popular Ube Mochi Pancake and Waffle Mix for a second edition in May 2022. TikTok breakfast fans are simply obsessed with that nutty vanilla flavor, chewy texture, and iconic purple tint. The surge in stores was so intense that many locations limit each customer to two checkouts.

The Amazon description says “Ideal for parties and home clubs.” TikTok says “Ideal for any room at any time.” Maximalist home decor is eclipsing the strictly curated two-tone aesthetic of recent years (a shift predicted by one astrologer). A lot of users go the high school skating rink route by outfitting their living rooms with disco balls, which create a cool dappled lighting situation that a sunset lamp never could. They don’t require electricity, so they’re pretty easy to set up, too.

With this fun information, we’ve also been introduced to some crucial safety tips for traveling alone, like door stop alarms. This nifty device slides under the door like a regular wedge door stop, but will chime if someone tries to break into your hotel or rental.

Putting ice on your face to temporarily de-puff and reduce redness isn’t necessarily a new trend on the skincare side of the internet. But freezable facial ice rollers specifically didn’t seem to explode until 2022. Not only are they a more targeted approach than holding an ice cube in a washcloth, they make it easy to incorporate skin-friendly ingredients like aloe or lemon. The Glow Cube is a popular choice with many color options and few leak reviews.
