Steph Curry’s outfit of choice on Monday night left some people wondering what’s cooking. The Warriors were coming off a 104-94 victory over the Boston Celtics in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, and Curry took the opportunity to wear a jersey that would playfully defend his wife’s honor with a comeback against shots from a local. brewery in Boston a few days earlier.
Curry had just scored 16 points during a tough night of shooting in which he was unusually 0-for-9 from beyond the arc. They asked several questions about his performance during the postgame news conference, but finally a reporter noticed some words written on the jersey Curry was wearing under his jacket. The text was not fully visible, so the media member asked to see it better.
“Ayesha Curry CAN cook,” the shirt read.
The reporter was confused and asked Curry for the back story, but the Golden State guard told him to ask around the room or find out on Twitter.
The message on his shirt references a handwritten sign that was on the sidewalk outside a local sports bar in Boston called Game On! at Fenway Park. The sign read “Ayesha Curry can’t cook.”
There was also another sign saying that Jayson Tatum’s son Deuce (a name that is misspelled on the sign) is better than Steph Curry’s eldest daughter Riley.
Curry wasn’t his best on the court Monday, but he was happy to take one more shot after the win. He’ll have a chance to continue to silence his opponents on Thursday when the Warriors play Boston in Game 6. A win by Golden State would give the Warriors the 2022 NBA championship trophy, but Curry is unlikely to make it! to Game On! celebrate.
