LagosPHX Fashion Week aims to make Downtown Phoenix a ‘global destination for culture and fashion’ – Downtown Phoenix AZ

Vibrant, trend-setting styles from Africa are coming down the runway in downtown Phoenix.

African Fashion Week, presented by LagosPHX, takes place August 19-21 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown.

The weekend is full of events with a style perfect for any fashionista. Guests will get an exclusive look at the latest styles, the chance to shop at an African-inspired pop-up market, watch captivating performances, eat authentic ethnic bites and more.

The organizers of African Fashion Week hope the event will attract the entire Valley starting with enthusiasts who enjoy all things African and welcome the community to experience the best of Africa first hand.

For LagosPHX CEO, Emeka Njoku, it was necessary to host this event in downtown Phoenix.

“Diversity and culture play an important role in cities,” said Njoku. “As a cultural influencer in downtown Phoenix, I felt there was a need to infuse culture into our thriving downtown and support emerging creative brands in the process.”

LagosPhx is a non-profit organization whose goal is to create a multicultural creative community in Arizona. The organization puts on shows focused on fashion, culture, the arts, and lifestyle.

Organizers said they are committed to making African Fashion Week not only the largest of its kind in Phoenix, but an exciting ongoing opportunity to promote diversity in the communities that make up the city.

The weekend consists of a welcome party, a trendy pool party at the new X Phoenix, a fashion show, and an after party. Special performances include artists Nk, Don Brighter, Praise Kusi, Blissful Gia, and Sam Opoku.

Featured fashion designers include Jonesy, Classic Reclaim, Melode, Senti Designs, Sankofa, Talk Fashionss, Zoe’s African Fashion, House of Donaldson, Blazzian and House of Zuri.

“Downtown Phoenix has done a great job building a fun and welcoming environment, we want to add to it and hopefully help make it a global fashion and cultural destination,” Njoku said.
