King Charles III furiously gestures to his aides to clean the pen and the ink goes viral

King Charles III was officially proclaimed the UK’s new reigning monarch on Saturday, but he already had a moment that went viral.

Moments before signing the Proclamation of Accession, marking his official ascension to the British Commonwealth throne, the monarch was forced to frantically gesture for aides to clear the desk where he was to write his name on papers.

The objects of concern consisted of a box of pens and an inkwell, both of which were reportedly given to him by his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Charles could be seen on camera pointing at the items, requesting that they be removed immediately.

“The servant must clean my desk for me. You can’t expect him to shake things up,” one person watching the live stream joked on Twitter, with another adding, “First day on the job and he’s had enough. LOL.”

A third noted, “Charles’ brief rage at the pen tray is definitely the highlight of this for me.”

Previously, Charles, 73, gave a heartfelt speech in which he reflected on the death of his mother.

“My mother’s reign was unmatched in its length, dedication, and devotion. Even as we grieve, we give thanks for this faithful life,” the royal said.

“I am deeply aware of this great heritage and the heavy duties and responsibilities of sovereignty that have now passed on to me.”
