A video of an emotional first look between a Florida bride and her son has gone viral on TikTok with over 7 million views in just 10 days.
The minute-long clip follows 11-year-old Mekhi Sheffield, dressed in a skimpy suit, as he turns a corner and sees his mother, Sommer Jean, in her wedding dress and veil, standing in front of golden balloons spelling out the word “girlfriend”. “
“I was actually in the bridal suite… and I asked them if they would be so kind as to go get my son and bring him up to the room and that’s how it happened,” Jean told “Good Morning America.”
As Mekhi stands in front of his mother, he begins to get emotional before his mother calls for him to come over and give her a loving kiss and dry her tears.
“She said, ‘Are you going to cry?’ And then I started crying,” Mekhi recalled to “GMA”.

Sommer Jean and her son Mekhi shared a first look together ahead of Jean’s wedding earlier this month.
The high school student said he was overwhelmed at the time, knowing how special the upcoming wedding was.
“My mom and I have been through a lot together and all those moments would replay themselves in my mind, and I was like, ‘Wow, we’ve really been through a lot. Now we’re finally here!'” saying.
“I thought it was the day my mom was waiting for. I was happy to see her happy,” she added.

Jean, who describes her son as her “best friend,” said she was also touched by her son’s reaction.
“I actually started crying, but he does a really good job of keeping me calm,” Jean said. “He knew he had makeup on and he didn’t want to…smear my makeup, so he really wanted to reach for it, but he was happy that they pretty much encouraged him to come to me, so it was really sweet.” . It was a great moment for sure.”

Sommer and Jeff Jean met two years ago and tied the knot earlier this month.
Jean and her husband Jeff Jean were married on January 8th surrounded by family and friends in St. Augustine, Florida.
For Mekhi, he said the union was everything he hoped for for his loving mother, who had been a single mother to him for the past nine years.
“It’s better than anything you can get on this earth,” he said.
