GHOST goes viral on TikTok and naturally the fan reaction is mixed

Very similar metallic‘s “puppet master” and kate bush“Running Up That Hill”, online attention rocketed Ghost’s song up Spotify’s Viral 50 Global chart, where it currently sits at number 9. (“Number nine…Number nine…”)

As it will happen, many OG Ghost fans were torn. Some were grateful for the exposure and happy to see the band’s popularity expand (even more). Others, unsurprisingly, were less impressed.

“I’m not worried about ‘Mary on a Cross’ being used on TikTok, but I am afraid of the inevitable day I will hear a 12 year old sing it in public,” one Twitter user posted.

“People can buy tickets just for ‘Mary on a Cross,’ I don’t care, it could be her way of meeting the band and falling in love with them, I don’t care,” said another social media user. . “But if I see someone saying that he went to the ritual JUST to listen to it and then left the place… I’m throwing my hands.” [via Loudwire]

As a neutral, I can see both sides of the argument. But, if pressed on the subject, I’m more inclined to be happy for the band and welcome new fans.
