Fashion and clothing trends that will be popular this year

I’ve been working as a celebrity stylist for over 10 years, so I’ve seen a lot of trends come and go. In 2022, you should be looking for lots of textures, including padded, fuzzy, and sequined garments. We’re seeing a big comeback of Y2K fashion, and square toe shoes are going to be both comfortable and stylish. Loading Something is loading.

It’s time to embrace some new trends and learn how to incorporate the next “it” items into your wardrobe.

As a stylist who’s spent over a decade dressing people for TV, red carpets, and everyday life, here are some of the trends I’m loving for 2022:

Oversized quilted capes are all the rage

When you think of quilted wardrobe pieces, you might associate them with hunting essentials. But puffer jackets can give you an oversized look while also adding flair to your style.

Also, you can style the look in many ways.

On a date, I’d add a pair of jeans, over-the-knee boots, and a fun top. For accessories, I suggest fun earrings and some cute rings.

I know the influx of fluff can be overwhelming and it can be hard to figure out which piece to add to your wardrobe. But something like a hat or bag in a teddy or fleece fabric can work for several seasons.

Many designers have jumped on the trend and created bags with the right amount of texture. This leaves you the opportunity to wear it in winter with your favorite coat and boots. Or you can rock a denim look in the warmer seasons and let your fuzzy purse do the talking.

You will want to play around with lots of colored resin rings.

Gone are the days when gold, silver and pearls were the favorite accessories. A colored resin ring will give your fingers the shine you are looking for.

Wearing rings in the winter can seem like a lot of work when you have to switch to gloves and mittens. But you can try accessorizing over the gloves with one or two rings to give your hands a bit of pizzazz.

The sequins will shine until the summer

You can dress sequins up or down.

Usually, the new year rolls by and all of a sudden we’re sick of the glitter and sparkle. But you may want to think twice before packing it all up.

You can bring the bright look into the summer months by wearing it with white shorts. Or you could even pair a sequined t-shirt with a pair of sweatshirts for a super casual ensemble.

Mini skirts will surely be the preferred length next year

We all loved mini skirts in the 1990s. And if you missed the trend then, now is the perfect time to come back and show off your legs.

Pair the t-shirt with your sock color of choice on cooler days or let it shine on its own when we start ditching the heavier gear this year.

Vest puffers are a timeless investment

Fun vests can add a splash of color to your outfit.

Whether you find them old-fashioned or unflattering, you may want to reconsider your stance on vests – this jewel will change your life in fashion and take you far this season.

When it’s cold outside but you don’t want to completely overwhelm your outfit with a coat, you can get away with wearing just a denim or leather jacket by adding a vest as an extra protective layer.

I like to wear my vest with heels or enhance it with a funky brim hat and chunky turtleneck.

Y2K denim on denim is making a comeback in a big way

We all remember when Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake immortalized the denim-on-denim trend on the red carpet, and I’m here to tell you that it’s back.

Conveniently, it’s easier to get dressed without worrying about what to match. Instead, your only concern is to match the shoes to the occasion.

Square toe shoes are the new wave of comfort.

Both are stylish and more comfortable than pointy shoes.

You can say goodbye to pointy toes and set your sights on a new wave of comfort: square toe heels.

There are a variety of styles you’ll want to add to your shoe closet, including some trendy bold prints.

There are also amazing ways to use them. I like to wear mine casually with a pair of jeans, a mini skirt, or shorts.

A corset is guaranteed to turn heads in the new year.

Corsets used to be undergarments, but the cropped top is the best buy this season.

A corset offers an incredible structure of empowerment and some designers are incorporating them into their pieces.

It’s versatile and is a great way to spice up your wardrobe.

Yellow can brighten up your winter wardrobe

Yellow will brighten up the cold and dark months.

I would start by investing in a top that you can wear to a brunch outing or a date.

It should go well with the existing fabrics in your wardrobe (a cardigan, a leather jacket, a fun pair of patterned pants), but it still adds a little extra cheer.
