FALL CLOTHING: Fall Fashions Begin to Hit Local Businesses | News

Although it’s still technically summer, some boutiques are already looking at fashion trends for fall.

Kristy Eubanks, owner of Junie’s Closet, said she has sweaters and coats in stock for the season.

She said customers should expect to see trends in sparkles, pops of color, color blocks and metallics. Metallics and sparkles are a new trend this year, and she thinks it’s because of how fashion is based in bigger cities and how people are now able to show their outfits to more people since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I think 2022 is the year we come back to town and we can be seen,” Eubanks said.

As the seasons change, so do color schemes and fabric textures. Eubanks said colors tend to transition from bright and light to warm and earthy, with burnt orange and warm teal being popular.

Beautiquey and The Beast manager Diana Gordineer said warmer colors like mustard are very popular during the fall, but sometimes darker colors like the 2021 plum color trend are more sought after. , depending on the year.

“I feel that color makes a difference. As we move into fall, the colors become more neutral, but that’s not always the case,” Gordineer said.

Because the summer is hotter, Eubanks said fabrics typically transition from light and airy to heavier materials in the fall, such as flannels, jeans, corduroys and knits. Gordineer said the length of most clothing for both men and women changes, along with the colors.

Given that they have to battle the Oklahoma weather, Gordineer also said women have been looking for garments that are lightweight and can be layered, to stay warm on cool mornings and switch to lighter material when the heat hits. .

Accessories like sunglasses and belts are worn year-round, with belts most popular during the fall. Gordineer said this is because a belt can change the look of an outfit and add a splash of color.

Eubanks said other pieces of clothing looking to continue in 2022 as a trend are jackets and jumpsuits. Wearing a bodysuit as a base is a great way to layer, as jackets, cardigans and jackets can easily be layered with an item of clothing, she said.

Vivid Salon and Boutique LLC owner Amy Carter said she hasn’t received any fall outfits yet, but having stylish yet comfortable clothes seems to be a trend.

“Honestly, I feel like people are more accepting of styles right now. I feel that it is not the same [type of design]. We’re just looking for, ‘I look good and I feel good,’” Carter said.

Eubanks said sneakers seem to be all the rage this season, and that falls into a category of comfort, like pairing basic black and white sneakers. Whether a person wears sneakers with dresses, jeans or athletic shorts, it seems to work very well together, she said.

“I don’t think anyone is mad about it. We all prefer to wear sneakers than heels,” Eubanks said.
