Afterpay, the official presenting partner of New York Fashion Week: The Shows, is opening key shows to the general public in a few different ways this season. The company worked with Kim Shui to recruit models, stylists, photographers, hairdressers, and makeup artists from social media; the brand also created an impression using pixel submissions that will appear on the runway and be minted into an NFT that will be distributed to anyone who submits a pixel for the project. (The show will also take place at “an iconic New York City landmark,” where passers-by will be able to view the styles as they come out.) Next, Area, in association with Afterpay, will screen videos of its Spring 2023 collection throughout New York City from September 12-14.
