elf Beauty becomes the first in the beauty industry to achieve Fair Trade USA™ certification for a manufacturing facility

OAKLAND, Calif.–(COMMERCIAL WIRE)–elf Beauty is proud to announce that it is the first in the beauty industry to have a Fair Trade Certified™ manufacturing facility. Tarang Amin, President and CEO of elf Beauty explains, “Consumers love elf because of our superpowers. We bring premium products at extraordinary value that are cruelty-free, vegan and clean, and now we’re adding one more superpower: achieving Fair Trade Certification.”

Fair Trade USA™ is a non-profit organization that offers globally recognized sustainable sourcing certification programs. A Fair Trade Certification seal on a product means that it was manufactured according to rigorous fair trade standards that promote sustainable livelihoods and safe working conditions for factory employees, environmental protection and transparent supply chains.

“It has been very meaningful to partner with Fair Trade USA to establish the first Fair Trade Certification in the beauty industry for our third-party manufacturer,” continues Amin. “We hope to increase consumer awareness and education about fair trade practices to make a difference in communities around the world.”

“Our organization is built on the simple idea that the products that are bought and sold every day are connected to the livelihoods of others,” said Paul Rice, founder and CEO of Fair Trade USA. “We are truly excited about the pioneering nature of our partnership with elf Beauty as it shows the breadth of what is possible with Fair Trade Certification across all industries. It is a way of doing business that changes the world.”

elf Beauty’s third-party manufacturing facility achieved Fair Trade Certification in August 2022, and the company is currently in the process of obtaining certification for additional suppliers. To achieve certification, suppliers must undergo audits and demonstrate compliance with more than 100 compliance criteria covering social responsibility, environmental responsibility, empowerment and economic development. This certification extends to all products from the entire elf Beauty brand portfolio: elf Cosmetics, elf SKIN, Well People and Keys Soulcare.

Every time a consumer purchases a Fair Trade Certified product, elf Beauty will make a contribution to the workers at the facility that made the product to better their communities. By purchasing Fair Trade Certified products, consumers can further elf Beauty’s commitment to doing the right thing for all people, the planet and our furry friends.
