Chances are you’re already familiar with athleisure, but what about athluxury? Sporty aesthetics pioneered by off-duty models have morphed into runway-ready pieces thanks to inspiration drawn from sportswear and new collaborations with designer brands.
It was only time that sporty style became even more of a fashion norm. Think about the journey of the quilted coat. It has gone from being a sporty outerwear option to a fashion mainstay in fall/winter collections, almost every designer has made their own version. It’s no surprise then that sweatpants, dresses and knitwear all followed in the same direction. In addition to the typical hoodies, sweatpants and sneakers, sports elements have also found their way into ready-to-wear clothing. This fall, you can find a tracksuit-turned-dress at Victoria Beckham, pleated knee-length tennis skirts at Miu Miu, and varsity jackets at Saint Laurent. Even Louis Vuitton and Dior have given their take on the fashion-sportswear hybrid with oversized rugby shirts over evening gowns and moving heels made from technical fabric, respectively. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a luxury without mention of all the Balenciaga, Gucci and Wales Bonner collaborations with Adidas, available to shop now and throughout the fall. Pieces from all these brands appeared on the catwalk of Vogue World: New York; All in all, it’s a trend that has received our seal of approval.
