A Medal of Honor winner’s speech at the Pentagon is going viral on TikTok

“We don’t want war. But if you want war with the United States of America, there is one thing I can promise you, so help me God: someone else will raise your sons and daughters.”

It just might be one of the coolest things anyone has ever said, and when combined with the music of Metro Boomin, it has TikTok-ers ready to enlist.

“This video almost made me want to sign up,” said TikTok user Joaquin.

“I almost googled a recruiting center right next to this,” said Jorge L.

“He just talked me into enlisting in March,” FantaMane said.

The line was delivered by Medal of Honor recipient Army Sgt. David Bellavia. He received the Silver Star for actions he took during a home invasion in the Second Battle of Fallujah during the Iraq War in 2004. His Silver Star was upgraded to a Medal of Honor and presented by President Donald Trump at the House White on June 25, 2004. 2019.

In August of that year, Bellavia delivered a speech at the Pentagon’s Hall of Heroes. In the speech, he spoke about America’s warrior class and those who died in the mission in Fallujah that day. The excerpt used in the minute-long TikTok video, called “If the US military tested MetroBoomin,” came towards the end of Bellavia’s speech.

It’s a speech that’s on par with or better than any motivational speech written by speechwriters, generals, or even Hollywood screenwriters.

“Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, ISIS, Al Qaeda. They may be watching this right now. Our military is not to be confused with a cable TV show. We don’t care what it looks like. We don’t care.” . It doesn’t matter who you voted for, who you adore, what you adore, who you love. It doesn’t matter if your father left you millions when he died or if you knew who your father was. They have turned us into a machine with deadly moving parts that you would be wise to avoid if you know what is good for you.

We will not be intimidated. We will not back down. We have seen the war. We don’t want war. But if you want war with the United States of America, there’s one thing I can promise you, so help me God: someone else will raise your sons and daughters.”

From there, the video cuts to a few short verses of a Metro Boomin song. The video, made by Ohio-based TikTok user JHaleProductions, garnered 7.9 million views and more than 13,000 comments, mostly on how “hard” or “cold” the quote is and how this is the type of recruiting video you want. the Army needs to do. .

It’s enough to make one wonder if the Army should give a portion of its $600 million ad budget to Metro Boomin and some TikTok users and produce the kind of Army ads that people (apparently) actually want to see. The app has been banned from government devices and faces restrictions in most states, but no one in the Army’s target market seems to care.
