19-year-old man arrested in shooting outside Chandler Fashion Center on Monday

CHANDLER, AZ – Chandler police say a 19-year-old man has been arrested following a shooting outside a Harkins theater and auto center near the Chandler Fashion Center on Monday night.

Authorities say Nathaniel Anthony Vensor fired 30 rounds from an AR-15 assault rifle into the air.

Police reportedly found the unloaded shell casings in the mall’s southwest parking lot.

After the incident, authorities said there was no active shooter and no victims were located.

According to surveillance video, the suspected suspects left the area before officers arrived.

On Tuesday morning, officials were called to the mall over reports that Vensor was shopping inside the mall.

Vensor was arrested shortly after 11 a.m. Authorities say he was unarmed and wearing the same baseball cap he bought at the mall before the shooting.

Vensor was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and faces one count of armed robbery, one count of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor and thirty counts of unlawful discharge of a firearm.

He was also found in possession of a drug during his arrest.
